Fishing Rules

1)Purpose: The Association's purpose is according to rule § 3A of the statute: To protect and enhance fish stocks in rivers and lakes as a goal by the association. This is the basis for regulations.
2) Documentation for commencing of fishing: Fishing documents and proof of payment of fishing fees, proof of disinfection and credentials. All equipment used outside Finnmark to be disinfected before permits can be purchased. Disinfection Receipt from rivers in Northern Varanger approved, but shall not be more than 7 days old.
3) Fishing hours: fishing day runs from 18:00 to 18:00. Salmon from 22.06 at 00:00 until 31.08, at 24:00. There may be changes in the fishing season for salmon after mid-term evaluation. Arctic Char from 01.07 at 00:00 until 31.07 at 24.00 Sea Trout from 22.06 at 00:00 until 31.08 at 24.00 Extended fishing season for sea trout and humpback salmon from the mouth of the Nybrua 14.09 at 24.00.
4) Preservation Zones: All season: Port Mouth, Russe pond, Upper part of Allemannsdam and Pedersen pond. Skjærkulpen pond protected 10.07 at 24.00.
5) Permitted fishing gear: It is only allowed to fish with a rod from the hand. It is forbidden to sell or transfer the license to others. Only a floating line is permitted. Flies and nymphs without a metal or lead inlay to achieve sink effect. Flies: Single hook size 2 max and max double hook size 4.Dropper max size 6 .Max 2 flies per line.More than 3 hooks together is Forbidden. A triple hook counts as three hooks. Nymphs max size 10 Worm without sinker tandem or permitted to 10.07 at 24.00. Max hook size 2
6) Compulsory releasing of fish: Wintering, wild salmon less than 35 cm and sea trout and char less than 30 cm shall be returned to the river/stream. After July 31: All female salmon MUST be released back in the river. Female salmon that are too injured to be returned MUST be delivered to bruhytta or to the river surveillance authorities.
7) Quotas: Komagvær JFF has introduced a quota of 3 salmon caught per fishing day. Year quota is 20 salmon per fisherman. Year quota for Char is 10 char per fisherman.
8) Requirements for reporting of catch: The reporting of catch is mandatory. Catch report must be returned to bruhytta twice a season. Mid-term evaluation within 26 July and the final report by September 1. Capture reports for extended fishing for trout and humpback salmon must be submitted by September 15. Own capture form follows the permit. Catches shall immediately be written in the form. Catch reports are included as part of a survey of the river's fish stocks. If catch reports under the said rules are not returned by the fishing card holder they will not have access to fishing for next seasons.
