Plenty of big salmons are approaching the Norwegian rivers. The condition of the fish that have arrived so far indicates improved nutritional conditions in the oceans.
Mr. Arne Jørrestol has been tagging 200 salmons at the entrance of the Trondheim Fjord since 16`Th of May. Most of this has been big salmons, many above the 15 kilo mark, the biggest at 25 kilo. (Picture)

Mr. Jørrestol, who has been fishing and tagging salmons for more than 10 years, is pleasantly surprised to the quality and conditions of this years salmon population.
The condition of the fish seems to be excellent, especially regarding the small salmon that was in rather miserable condition last year. There is also a tendency for big sea trout free of lice.
Considering the delayed start of the net fishing at sea, and the good reports from the tagging stations, all should be set for a successful premiere night, once the remaining rivers open Saturday at midnight.
The few rivers that have already opened, reports of good catches and plenty of big salmons are coming in.
In the Enningdals river, more than 33 salmons are already caught, the biggest one at 17,7 kilo.
