Mr. Søren Beck from Kopenhagen, broke the world record landing a 202 kilo halibut outside of Værøy 13 th May. He needed assistance from 4 persons to get it into the boat!

Mr. Kristian Keskitalo in Wild Water Fishing tells Fishing Norway that his guests at the fishing camp has pulled ashore 10 halibuts larger than 65 kilo since April 23`rd. The second largest one weighing in at 122 kilo. Mr. Keskitalo says they use pollack for bait. The fishing spot is only 20-30m of depth, on sandy banks with strong currents. Mr. Keskitalo is sure that Værøy is one of the prime halibut spots in the world. The record halibut was 202 kilo, 246 cm long and 195 cm around the waist. The huge halibut is to be sold to a local fish processing unit, and the incomes will be donated to Værøy elementary school. While we had Mr. Keskitalo on the phone at 10.00 am this morning, he had to disconnect, because another big halibut struck the bait.
